WEEK 24 - 29/12/11 - GUILT

"Hard though it may be to accept, remember that guilt is sometimes a friendly internal voice reminding you that you're messing up."
― Marge Kennedy
- LORENA -
A fragile structure that keeps everything in place, making flaws permanent and notorious until you fix them.
- DAPHNE -
remembering equals repetition. the folded paper forms a smooth band around the wrist. expanding a little when needed, it will remember its old form and return back into its original shape

Leave us your thoughts! 1 already did.

WEEK 23 - 22/12/11 - GUILT

"When lovely woman stoops to folly, and finds too late that men betray, what charm can soothe her melancholy, what art can wash her guilt away?".
― Oliver Goldsmith
- LORENA -
You've gone too far too fast, making it almost impossible to erase the marks that were left behind.
- DAPHNE -
sometimes an appearing solid foundation is nothing more than a structure with holes.

WEEK 22 - 16/12/11 - GUILT

"People get into a heavy-duty sin and guilt trip, feeling that if things are going wrong, that means that they did something bad and they are being punished. That's not the idea at all. The idea of karma is that you continually get the teachings that you need to open your heart. To the degree that you didn't understand in the past how to stop protecting your soft spot, how to stop armoring your heart, you're given this gift of teachings in the form of your life, to give you everything you need to open further.".
― Pema Chödrön
- LORENA -
Like the oyster who choses to embrace what irritates her and turns it into beauty. Among all these perfect pearl shaped plastic beads, just the one who's open to transformation will discover a real pearl inside itself.
- DAPHNE -
to open up, and see the shiny side of things. the cuff is blackened on one side and polished on the other side. we can choose the side we prefer.

WEEK 21 - 8/12/11 - GUILT

""He showed the words “chocolate cake” to a group of Americans and recorded their word associations. 'Guilt' was the top response. If that strikes you as unexceptional, consider the response of French eaters to the same prompt: 'celebration'”.
― Michael Pollan
- LORENA -
Funny thing that when pleasure is involved many times so is guilt. A flexible bracelet made out of rubber, plain in one side, textured in the other; it is the wearer who chooses whether to be caressed by the material or not.
- DAPHNE -
the heavy weight on one side and the airy feeling it might give on the other. the metal looks heavy and bold, but it is of no different weight than the other side of the bracelet

WEEK 20 - 1/12/11 - HOMESICKNESS

"Maybe you had to leave in order to really miss a place; maybe you had to travel to figure out how beloved your starting point was.”
― Jodi Picoult, Handle with Care
- LORENA -
A long distance walked shows you how different things were back at home... and how hard you will try to find something that resembles to it wherever you are.
- DAPHNE -
inside each one of us is a little magnet that draws you back to the place you came from. the wire is flexible, bendable, adaptable, stretchable but never brakes.

WEEK 19 - 24/11/11 - HOMESICKNESS

"I suspected, however, that I wasn't homesick for anything I would find at home when I returned. The longing was for what I wouldn't find: the past and all the people and places that were lost to me.”
― Alice Steinbach, Without Reservations: The Travels of an Independent Woman
- LORENA -
The ritual of every year, hanging the same adornments in the same Christmas tree... every time it all seemed unchanged. But as years came and went, so did the childhood innocence and people attached to the celebration, irreplaceable things that will always be missed.
- DAPHNE -
we can only long for something that is no longer in our sight. the crumbled paper is being held together by silver longings. the neckpiece is to be worn tightly around the neck so one can not see it when looking down.

WEEK 18 - 17/11/11 - HOMESICKNESS

“It is necessary to find one's own way in New York. New York City is not hospitable. She is very big and she has no heart. She is not charming. She is not sympathetic. She is rushed and noisy and unkempt, a hard, ambitious, irresolute place, not very lively, and never gay. When she glitters she is very, very bright, and when she does not glitter she is dirty. New York does nothing for those of us who are inclined to love her except implant in our hearts a homesickness that baffles us until we go away from her, and then we realize why we are restless. At home or away, we are homesick for New York not because New York used to be better and not because she used to be worse but because the city holds us and we don't know why.”
- Maeve Brennan
- LORENA -
caos and barriers, but once you conquer them and find your own way, what once was a limitation will now become a bond.
- DAPHNE -
the harsh appearance makes us hold back a little, but it is that glimmer that draws us to what lies within. and once we crawl through the 'fish pod' we can never get out.

WEEK 17 - 10/11/11 - HOMESICKNESS

"The worst feeling in the world is the homesickness that comes over a man occasionally when he is at home.”
― Edgar Watson Howe
- LORENA -
a suffocating feeling, having in front of you your real home, but carrying in your back the weight of the nostalgia from a previous home, or the pieces of an idealized one that will never exist.
- DAPHNE -
square meters don't matter, it is the walls crawling on to you.

WEEK 16 - 3/11/11 - ENTHUSIASM

"What a man accomplishes in a day depends upon the way in which he approaches his tasks. When we accept tough jobs as a challenge to our ability and wade into them with joy and enthusiasm, miracles can happen. When we do our work with a dynamic, conquering spirit, we get things done.”
― Arland Gilbert
-    LORENA    -
Just making it happen, no mater what.
-    DAPHNE    -
whichever way we choose, we end up in a whirlwind sooner or later. it is the way we look at things that make the difference.

WEEK 15 - 27/10/11 - ENTHUSIASM

"One of the main reasons that we lose our enthusiasm in life is because we become ungrateful... we let what was once a miracle become common to us. We get so accustomed to his goodness it becomes a routine.”
― Joel Osteen
-    LORENA    -
This phrase makes me think about pain and wellness, is easy to get used to feel good and don't appreciate it, until the slightest pain hits the body, then all the senses and thoughts are involved into feel better, and when achieved, easily and quickly we get used to wellness again until pain prepares a new attack to the fragile body.
-    DAPHNE    -
bored, just doodling

WEEK 14 - 20/10/11 - ENTHUSIASM

"Many of the most successful men I have known have never grown up. They have retained bubbling-over boyishness. They have relished wit, they have indulged in humor. They have not allowed "dignity" to depress them into moroseness. Youthfulness of spirit is the twin brother of optimism, and optimism is the stuff of which American business success is fashioned. Resist growing up!”
― B.C. Forbes
-    LORENA    -
Constant movement, playfulness, simplicity, spontaneity... all children particularities that I find fascinating.
-    DAPHNE    -
so man have it all, just by staying young! right?
this ring is just a little reminder...

WEEK 13 - 17/10/11 - ENTHUSIASM

" In her enthusiasms she had always looked for something tangible: she had always loved church for its flowers, music for its romantic words, literature for its power to stir the passions and she rebelled before the mysteries of faith just as she grew ever more restive under discipline, which was antipathetic to her nature.”
― Gustave Flaubert, Madame Bovary
-    LORENA    -
You need to find the details that touch your sensibility, that leave a mark on you, to really enjoy things and understand their purpose and beauty.
-    DAPHNE    -
we sometimes only see a small detail of the bigger whole, a reflection of that what lies beyond. maybe understanding the detail makes us part of the overall.

WEEK 12 - 06/10/11 - DISAPPOINTMENT

"Look,” he said, “the point is there’s no way to be a hundred percent sure about anyone or anything. So you’re left with a choice. Either hope for the best, or just expect the worst.”
If you expect the worst, you’re never disappointed,” I pointed out.
Yeah, but who lives like that?"
— Sarah Dessen
-    LORENA    -
given the choice of looking through an object, those who are pretentious might end up getting much less than those with smaller expectations but greater curiosity.
-    DAPHNE    -
you got to work with the path chosen, and whatever is in the way
